The best Indonesian never to play for Indonesia?

Radja Nainggolan's breakthrough season doesn't just have Cagliari's money-men rubbing their hands - but even Serie A's marketing bosses can see new opportunities opening up thanks to the young midfielder's heroics this season.

Nainggolan has taken to Serie A football like a natural. Signed from Piacenza last summer, where he had spent the last three seasons, the 23 year-old hasn't looked out of place in Italy's top-flight and such has been his impact, the nation's biggest clubs are now following his progress. Indeed, the top three of AC Milan, Inter Milan and Napoli have all been mentioned as potential destinations for Nainggolan this summer.

Born in Antwerp to an Indonesian father and Belgian mother, Nainggolan has a twin sister and three half siblings - all of whom are living with their father in Bali. The family separated when Radja was six years old, with his sister following Dad back to Indonesia.

Radja stayed with his mother and soon his talent was recognised by scouts at Germinal Beerschot.

"As a child I loved playing football, even at five years of age I started with a team in my city," he says. "At 10 I moved to Germinal Beerschot and learned my football there throughout my teens.

"Finally, when 16 years old, my agent told me that an Italian club was interested in me, so I moved to Piacenza.

"It was a dream come true: playing in Italy. At first, however, it was not easy, being just 16 years old, I found myself in a foreign country alone, but my determination allowed me to overcome these difficulties."

Nainggolan admits he's surprised himself with how he's handled stepping up from Serie B this season.

"Between Serie A and B there is an abyss both physically and in terms of tactics," he says.

"It's an honor to be coached by Roberto Donadoni, a person with a wealth of experience who can teach me much."

Former Cagliari coach Pierpaolo Bisoli admits he's a big fan of Nainggolan and believes he has the ability to play on a bigger stage.

"He's a major player," says Bisoli. "He's very strong physically and technically. He could already play for an important team like Napoli."

Nainggolan is well aware of the increased transfer rumours swirling around him, but insists he'll keep his feet on the ground.

Recently married to a local girl, the midfielder says he's happy developing his football at Cagliari under Donadoni.

"I'm happy in Cagliari and I am sure that this is the ideal place to grow and mature," he insists.

Canny Piacenza allowed Nainggolan to move to Cagliari in a co-ownership agreement and while the Sardinians have first refusal in June, there will be scope for the Serie B outfit to cash in on Nainggolan's rising star.

As there will be for Serie A's marketing men.

Nainggolan's Indonesian background is just the angle Serie A have been seeking as they battle the Premier League and Spanish Liga for attention in the Far East.

The Italians aren't sitting on their hands and have already started building on Nainggolan's increased profile in Indonesia, using him for extended interviews to help promote their TV coverage across the region.

"I was never actually born in Indonesia," laughs Nainggolan, "I grew up as a child in Antwerp. But I do plan to go there.

"I follow Asian football and I think it is changing fast, especially in Japan and South Korea - there are so many good players.

"Maybe physically they leave something to be desired, but these shortcomings are overcome with technique and speed."

Now capped by Belgium, the chance of turning out for Indonesia is gone. But Nainggolan's rapid progress guarantees a massive following for him in his father's homeland.

Cagliari president Massimo Cellino, like Serie A's TV people, knows they have something special on their hands.

"I'm willing to bet he will play for Real Madrid," declared Cellino. "He's only 23, but has great quality.

"But we will not sell him next summer. He will develop here and get better."

Which sounds just about right for Radja Nainggolan.

The New Chairman of PSSI 2011-2015

Solo - Through two rounds voting, Djohar Arifin Husin was elected as the new PSSI chairman (PSSI: Persatuan Sepakbola Seluruh Indonesia/Football Associations of Indonesia) for the period 2011-2015 in the Extraordinary Congress PSSI in Solo, on Saturday (09/07/2011). He defeated Agusman Effendi.

Indonesian Premier League closer to merger

JAKARTA, April 12 (Reuters) - The Indonesian Premier League (IPL) took a significant step towards full integration on Monday when it was recognised by a special committee overseeing the country's football affairs.

A constant thorn in the side of the chaotic Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), who have branded the IPL "rebels," the breakaway league has already gained government support

The new PSSI executive board to emerge from the May 20 elections will rule on whether to dissolve the IPL or merge it with the Super League, the Jakarta Globe reported on Tuesday.

The IPL has been authorised to continue its operations without fear of being dissolved at least until the end of its current season later this year.

"We made the decision to accommodate the IPL under the committee's supervision until the end of the season," panel chief Agum Gumelar told the Globe.

"After the end of its season, the IPL must report to the new PSSI leadership and the new heads of the association will decide thereafter the league's future."

World governing body FIFA sanctions only one domestic competition per country.

FIFA appointed the normalisation committee after weeks of protests against controversial PSSI chief Nurdin Halid and his inability to halt the popular IPL, launched by local oil tycoon Arifin Panigoro in January.

The Management of Bandung FC plans to overhaul the squad as fast as they can according with the bad result in Indonesian Premier League competitions. FIFA: Normalisation Committee in Indonesia

Following the latest events linked to the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI), the FIFA Emergency Committee decided on 1 April 2011 that, in accordance with article 7 paragraph 2 of the FIFA Statutes, a Normalisation Committee will take over from the current PSSI executive committee.

The FIFA Emergency Committee estimated that the current PSSI leadership was not in control of football in Indonesia as proven by the failure to gain control of the run-away league (Liga Premiere, LPI) set up without the involvement of PSSI or by the fact it could not organise a congress whose sole goals were to adopt an electoral code and elect an electoral commission. The FIFA Emergency Committee came thus to the conclusion that the PSSI leadership had lost all credibility within Indonesia and was not in a position anymore to lead the process to solve the current crisis.

The mission of the Normalisation Committee is: to organise elections based on the FIFA electoral code and PSSI statutes before 21 May 2011; to bring the run-away league under PSSI control or have it stopped as soon as possible; to run the day-to-day activities of PSSI in a spirit of reconciliation for the good of the Indonesian football

The Normalisation Committee is composed by personalities of the Indonesian football who will not be able to run for any of the PSSI positions and would act as an electoral commission. It confirmed as well the non-eligibility to the Presidency of PSSI of the four candidates who were rejected by the PSSI appeal committee on 28 February 2011.

Persema's First Defeat

Persema Malang finally suffering defeated by Aceh United 0-1 in Harapan Bangsa Stadium in Aceh Besar. This is their first lost, after they always got a winning in the Indonesian Premier League which started in January 2011. 

The home team Aceh United dominate the game from the first half, but no one chances was converted into a goal. Persema actually had scored in minute 20" from their player Reza Mustofa, but the referee disagree with this, because Reza Mustofa was in offside condition before the goal was happen. The goal from Aceh United was scored by their right midfielder Junanto before injury time at the first half.

This defeats doesn't change their position in classement of Indonesian Premier League. Persema still at the first pos with 26 points from 11 matches.

Bandung FC won over Cendrawasih Papua

Bandung FC brough a victory over Cendrawasih Papua as they played in Mandala Stadium, Jayapura, Papua on Saturday (2/4). Bandung FC got a victory with a 2-1. This is the second full point reached by Bandung FC from the first time Indonesian Premier League was started in January 2011. 

Bandung FC which is a club that have so many good player, including Lee Hendrie moved to attack at the first half and they scored 0-1 from Rinto Hermawan (37"). Amancio Fortes, ex Manchester United Junior Team B-U19

Amancio Fortes is one of the best players brought in to Semarang United in Indonesian Premier League. This player has an experience playing with Manchester United Academy in 2006-07 in Junior Team B-U19. He is only 20 years now, and he has so many skill to show. Jesper Blomqvist come to Indonesia for LPI

Former Manchester United player Jesper Blomvist was impressed with the professional attitude of the Indonesian Premier League (LPI), but he can not decide wheather he can defend Persebaya 1927 in June. 

"This is my first visit to Indonesia. Jakarta is a big city. Today I was stuck in traffic for four to five hours. But overall I am happy here", said Blomqvist when found GOAL.com Indonesia, Wednesday night (16/3), in Kemang, South Jakarta.

"But there has been no decision whatsoever. There is no hope whatsoever. I came to talk with the LPI. We'll see what happens. Who knows? I had no time in June. Right now I am building an apartment in Stockholm, and is expected completed in late May.

Jesper Blomqvist at the first time come to Indonesia

Lars Jesper Blomqvist (born February 5, 1974) is a Swedish football player. Most recently he has been the playing assistant manager of Superettan side Hammarby from December 2009 to November 2010. He played at IFK Goteborg where he won four straight Allsvenskan league titles betwen 1993-96 and Manchester United where he was part of the team that won a treble in 1999, consisting of the FA Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League. Before he played for Manchester United, Blomqvist signed for newly crowed Serie A champions AC Milan, but in his first season, Milan failed to win a trophy and Blomqvist often sat on the bench. After played for Manchester United, he played for Everton (2001-02) and he returned to Swedish football in 2003 with Djurgarden, where he won his final Allsvenskan title, before initially retiring in 2005. An injury crisis prompted a playing return for Enkoping in 2008. Blomqvist has made 30 international appearance for Sweden and helped them to third place at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States.

FIFA: Bletter expresses sympathy to Japan

FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter has sent a message of sympathy to Japan following the massive earthquake which hit the country Friday, March 11, 2011.

The quake, measuring 8.9 on the Richter scale, unleashed huge tsunami that crashed into Japan's eastern coastline, sweeping boats, cars, and tons of debris miles inland.

The FIFA Presiden sent a message to Junji Ogura, a member of the FIFA Executive Committee and President of the Japanese FA which read: "I have been following with the sadness the new of the terrible tragedy in your country and I would like to express my deep sympathy to the people of Japan. The quake struck at 2.46pm local time and was followed by1 2 powerful aftershock, seven of them at least 6.3 of the Richter scale, the size of the quake which struck New Zealand on 22 Februari.

It struck at a deep of six miles (10km), about 80 miles (125km) off the eastern coast, Japan's meteorological agency said. The area is 240 miles (380km) north east of Tokyo.

"On behalf of FIFA, I wish to extend our moral support and to let you know that our thoughts are with the victims, the injured, and their families", added the FIFA President.

FIFA: Situation in the Indonesia FA (PSSI)

The situation of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) was discussed during the FIFA Associations Committee which was held in Zurich in 1 March and during the FIFA Executive Committee held in Zurich on 3 March 2011.

The FIFA Executive Committee made the following decision: "The PSSI should organize the general assembly on 26 March 2011 to elect the electoral commission and adopt an elecroral code based on the FIFA standard electoral code. The elecoral commission will then organize elections before 30 April 2011. In additions, if the PSSI is not able to regain control of the breakaway league, the case will be submitted to the FIFA Executive Committee for a potential suspensions."

The Executive Committee has also acknowledged that the PSSI Appeal Committee has validated the application of the four candidate running for PSSI presidency.

The FIFA President, the FIFA Secretary General, and the FIFA Director Assiciations have met representatives of the PSSI on Monday 7 March and the Indonesian ambassador in Switzerland as well as the Chairwoman of the Indonesian NOC on Tuesday 8 March in Zurich at he Home of FIFA. They explained the decision of the FIFA Executive Committee during the meetings. No new decision or new actions were decided during the these meetings.

Lee Hendrie was born in Birmingham May 18, 1977. He is an ex England international footballer who plays as a midfielder. Lee Hendrie made his debut for Aston Villa when they defeats Queens Park Rangers 1-0 on 23 December 1995 and went on to achieve the accolade of the club's "Young Player of the Season" award in the 1997-98 season. On September 2005 he joined Stoke City on loan, on the recomendation of his father. On 30 January 2007, he extended his loan spell with the Potter until the end of the 2006-07 season. Whilst at Aston Villa he played in the 2000 FA Cup Final.

Hendrie signed a three-year contract with Sheffield United after arriving on a free transfer in July 2007, making his debut on the opening day of the season, a 2-2 home draw with Colchester United. He scored his first league goal for Sheffield United in a 2-1 win over QPR on 12 January 2008. With the departure of Bryan Robson in February 2008, new manager Kevin Blackwell quickly allowed Hendrie to join Leicester City in an emergency loan deal, with a view to a permanent move. He scored the winning goal for Leicester in a 1-0 win over Scunthorpe United on 29 March 2008 but could not prevent the club's relegation to League One and he subsequently return to Bramall Lane. In November 2008 he joined Blackpool on loan initially until 1 January 2009, making his debut as a second-half substitute the same day in the West Lancashire derby at home to Preston North End at Bloomfield Road. He was sent off for Blackpool versus Reading on 9 December 2008 and returned to Sheffield United on 31 December 2008 having made six appearances. Having returned to Bramall Lane once more he vowed to try and force his way into first team contention having given a wake up call by his time at Blackpool. He made a number of further substitute appearances for the Blades up to the end of the season. Having been brought off the bench in the 85th minute of the play off final against Burnley at Wembley he was subsequently sent off after the final whistle had blown for directing foul languange at referee Mike Dean.

On 1 September 2009, Hendrie joined Derby Country in a swap deal that involved Jordan Stewart moving in the opposite direction. Partly due to injury, Hendrie made just five stars for Derby before he moved to Brington and Hove Albion on loan for the rest of the season on 23 March 2010. It was announced on 13 May 2010, that he would leave Derby at the end of his contract after just 10 appearances from his nine month with the club.

Hendrie was set to join Scottish-side Aberdeen but deal fell through at last minute. Instead, he started training with Championship side Reading, but was not offered contract and was instead offered a shirt-term deal at his cousin John Hendrie's former club Bradford City by manager Peter Taylor. Taylor had previously managed Hendrie for England under-21s. Talking about his signing and the short-term deal, Hendrie said: "These next few weeks will be very interesting for me, and I will knuckle down. I have to use this to build up my fitness and get back to my peak. But on 1 January 2011 Lee Hendrie was no longer in Bradford City, and he have choosed the offer from Bandung FC, a club in Indonesian Premier League.

On 26 January 2011, Bandung announced the shock signing of Hendrie on a free transfer. Hendrie signed a two years contract with this Indonesian club. He is the first player with English Premier League experience to sign for Indonesian Premier League club. He is wearing the number 10 jersey. Upon signing Hendrie stated that "I am proud have the opportunity" in the Jakarta offices of the league. He made his debut on 5 February 2011 in a 1-0 dfeat against Persema Malang.
